The Family
Ashley & Christian
Ashley & Christian are your dog’s (human) hosts! Christian grew up in Mexico and California, and Ashley grew up in Hawaii. Between the two of us we have grown up with several family and personal dogs, raised Mana together, and fostered over 40 dogs for local organizations. My (Ashley’s) love for training started with horses and of course drifted to dogs when I adopted Mana. I am currently a certified Family Dog Mediator®, completed Cheri Wulff Lucas' Train the Trainer program, and I’m committed to continued growth and learning as a dog trainer and boarder. My future goals include attending NePoPo Silver School and continuing to participate in sports with Mana and Pa’a.

Mana was adopted from Love & Second Chances at about 4 months old, and entered into my life when I was living alone in a tiny studio with a cat and working full time out of the home. When possible he went everywhere with me- exploring the Bay Area, meeting many many dogs and people, off leash hiking, long drives, you name it. It took about a year of naivety and winging it before I finally committed to actually training him with Raw Pawtential to help solidify his recall and obedience. Resetting our obedience and engagement caused a major mentality shift in my view of responsible dog ownership and how to meet my dog’s needs. Mana has easily achieved his trick dog, FCAT, and VHMA titles, and acted as a solid demo dog for CGC tests! Mana is pretty much retired now from sports but we sometimes drag him along to run FCAT or do NASDA events.

Kūpa’a (aka Pa’a or 파) is a pedigree Korean Jindo Dog imported with the generous assistance of Yooshin Kennels and several friends in South Korea. He is a son of the 64th Jindo Colored Dog Champion, HeukYaSu (흑야수) and a very nice black and tan female named Cherry (체리). We’re hopeful he will help add new genetics to the US gene pool and serve as a great breed ambassador. Pa’a has quickly earned a handful of conformation, family dog, and sport titles and is currently the #2 ranked Jindo Dog in the US in number of titles earned. Our “big” goals for him are currently finishing his AKC Certificate of Merit (CM) and Companion Dog (CD) titles.
